Valentina Popa leads the International Relations team at The Plaza Hotel in New York City, as Director for International Relations, and a name of reference for VIP individuals and groups designated as Royal, Foreign Dignitary, Government and Diplomatic, managing complex protocol requirements and ensuring the highest standards of excellence.
Prior to her appointment with The Plaza, Valentina held key roles in the Executive Office of the United Nations Secretary-General (2017-2024), the United Nations Security Council (2011-2017) and the Department of Peace Operations (2008-2011). She was State Councilor with the Prime-Minister of Moldova on matters related to ministerial coordination and Cabinet reunions, followed by a diplomatic designation with the Permanent Mission of Moldova to the United Nations.
Valentina is an expert in the areas of intercultural communication, high-level events, multilateral conference and inter-agency coordination, outreach, client relations, and international protocol. She holds a Master’s degree in International Political Economy and Development from Fordham University in New York, a MA in International Relations from the Presidential Academy of Moldova, and a BA in Romance Linguistics and Intercultural Communication from the Moldovan State University.
