Hon. Robert Astorino served as Westchester County Executive from 2010-2017 and was the Republican candidate for New York State Governor in 2014. Currently, Mr. Astorino is the Senior Political Contributor and host of “Saturday Agenda” on Newsmax.
Astorino was first elected to public office at age 21 to the Mount Pleasant Board of Education. He went on to serve for 12 years as a councilman on the Mount Pleasant Town Board, including six years as deputy supervisor. In 2003, he was elected to the Westchester County Board of Legislators.
Astorino had a long career in the TV and Radio industry. From 2018-2020, he was a political and national affairs contributor on CNN.
He was the station manager and program director of The Catholic Channel on Sirius-XM Satellite Radio and hosted a weekly show from St. Patrick’s Cathedral with the Cardinal-Archbishop of New York. He had exclusive access and covered the apostolic visit by Pope Benedict XVI to the Unites States in 2008 and was then invited by the pontiff to speak about Catholic radio at the Vatican.
In 2001, he helped launch ESPN Radio in New York. He became the station’s senior producer, and was executive producer of “The Michael Kay Show.”
He has served his community in various civic, religious and volunteer organizations, including as a lector, Eucharistic Minister and Catholic Youth Organization basketball coach for his parish, Holy Rosary Church.
Astorino earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications at Fordham University, where he also minored in Spanish and Political Science. In 2001, he studied in Barcelona, Spain, and received a Spanish Immersion Diploma from the Enforex School of International Studies.
Astorino is a lifelong resident of Westchester. He and his wife, Sheila, live in Hawthorne and have three children, Sean, Kiley and Ashlin, and two dogs.
