Pray, Hope and Don't Worry T-Shirt
Inspired by the Super Pope T-Shirt, and on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Padre Pio’s passing, the Saint Pio Foundation is offering a t-shirt dedicated to our beloved Saint. The artwork encourages the wearer to embrace the meaning of his personal motto, so well known among his devotees: “Pray, Hope and Don’t Worry!”
“In a world where people are more concerned and distressed, we thought that Padre Pio’s own motto could be used to remind all of us, more than ever, to apply his message today. Wearing the "Pray, Hope and Don’t Worry!" T-shirt means becoming a spokesperson for humility, forgiveness, and compassion, values that were at the heart of Padre Pio’s life,” said President Luciano Lamonarca, co-creator of the initiative.
Padre Pio was a humble friar and considered a living saint. His values and teachings should be part of everyone’s daily life. He reminds us through the simplicity of his words about the importance of praying, persistence in hope, and freedom from worry, for at the end of the day, we are called to do God’s will. If each of us is reminded of this every day, it will make a huge difference in our lives.
We can all became witnesses and living testaments of #PrayHopeDontWorry!
The Artist and the Cartoon
Graphic designer Nicola Cantatore is an artist of faith. Padre Pio has always been an important part of his life, and even more so since he become the graphic designer of the Saint Pio Foundation.
"When you consider a beloved and well-known saint such as Padre Pio, it is not an easy thing to visualize in art his essence or what he will mean to future generations. I hope that through the production of this T-shirt, everyone will feel emboldened to offer to the world Padre Pio’s simple yet so powerful message: “Pray, Hope and Don’t Worry!"
The T-shirt portrays a smiling Padre Pio carrying a rosary in his right hand (symbol of prayer) and a globe with a superimposed anchor (symbol of hope). His smile reminds us that when we pray, our requests are heard by a loving God, so we have good reason for hope and can live without worry.
The T-Shirt’s image also includes an olive tree (symbol of the region of Puglia where Padre Pio lived and died) and a dove (symbol of peace) in flight around Padre Pio’s head, as if to create an aureole. The T-shirt intentionally omits the saint’s name.
